A New Year, New Appreciation

Posted in Adoption Stories

It’s always exciting to start a new year! A new year means a fresh start to create new goals and aspirations. As a family, we develop a handful of positive affirmations, along with a word to focus on throughout the year. For 2019, my family and I will be concentrating on appreciation. Appreciation for everything that we have, for blessings we have been given, and for each other.

We often get weighed down by trials in our lives or the hustle and bustle of daily life. If your schedule is anything like my families, we are always on the go or getting ready to go somewhere. I find myself in the car 24/7. If my head isn’t filled with what is next on my to do list, I find myself thinking about the things I don’t have or what task I should be doing. I want to break that habit this year. I want to turn my thoughts to that of appreciation, not only for the miracles I witness daily but for the trials I am faced with.

Now is the perfect time to think about what you want this year to be about. What goals do you want to reach? What type of intentions do you want to set? I believe strongly in words of affirmation, and what we think we create. The road to getting what we want isn’t always as clear, and there are often bumps and detours along the way, but somehow we are guided to the path that was designed specifically for our needs or our individual growth.

As you enjoy the first, fresh, new week of 2019, remember to set what this year will be about for you, and your growing family.
